Stage and Theatre Course with with Hannah Miller

Join acclaimed Casting Director and former RSC Head of Casting Hannah Miller for an intensive two-week course designed to help actors develop their approach to text, performance and the audition process.

Across two sessions, Hannah will work with you on both prepared and unfamiliar material, giving you the opportunity to put what you learn into practice and gain a deeper understanding of how to approach text and auditions with confidence.

Mon 23 and 30 November 2026 at Old Diorama.

Week 1 - Working with Text

  • The first session will begin with a selection of practical exercises exploring how actors can prepare and approach text.

  • You’ll then perform a piece you have prepared in advance and feel familiar with. Hannah will observe the work, offering individual notes and guidance, alongside practical exercises designed to help you explore and develop your performance.

  • The session will also include a Q&A with Hannah, giving you the chance to ask questions about casting, preparation, auditions and working professionally in the industry.

Week 2 - The Audition Process

  • For the second session, you’ll be given a completely new piece of material, selected by Hannah and sent to you 24 hours after the first session.

  • You’ll then work on the piece as you would for a professional audition, putting the learning, observations and techniques from Week 1 into practice.

  • Hannah will guide you through the process, exploring how to approach unfamiliar material, make strong choices and respond to direction in an audition environment.

  • The course will finish with a group discussion, bringing together the key lessons from both sessions and giving you the opportunity to reflect on your development.
